Suzanne Vick - Poetry

In addition to music, I have a great passion for poetry and my work has been published in poetry journals and publications across the country. In 2000, I was inducted into the International Society of Poets.

In 2005, I published my own chapbook (a short volume of poetry) called Excerpts, which officially sold out last year. I'll be publishing a second edition of Excerpts later this year, which will include new poetry along with poems from the initial pressing.

Below is a poem I wrote years ago when I was going to school in Boston...

A CHRISTMAS SONG by Suzanne Vick

And shall we say Christ is born!
Let angels sing with morning dew
with crystal wings behind them.

And shall we hear Christ is born!
Let wise men follow evening star
to Bethlehem before them.

And shall we cry Christ is born!
To homeless men on city streets
on snowy Christmas night...

to say
I can hardly speak at all... instead, keeping quiet,...
all the while, smiling inside
with the pride of one who
is pleased with life
and opportunities sought after."

"Float me down a river while I sleep in star-drenched skies
sit me in high grasses and
fill me with wonder while violets and daisies dance
in a sea of wildflower
and clover..."

"...the music driving us
close to the edge
thriving and thumping pumping
like an audible heroin
through our veins...
until we are whole again."
