I've been writing & recording some songs with fellow CT songwriter, Ed Daniels. CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!!!! 3.1.11 - My new release, "Sweet Thing," is NOW AVAILABLE on iTunes!! 2.5.11 - I’m delighted to tell you that my new CD, “Sweet Thing," is now available! (Digital downloads coming soon…) With a 50’s-style, singable refrain and a sax-inspired retro sound, “Sweet Thing” kinda sounds like what might result if Carly Simon or Carole King teamed up with Springsteen’s E Street Band. No, really! Check it out here: www.ReverbNation.com/SuzanneVick. The disc also includes a bonus track called "Home," which features cellist Larry Wissink. 11.27.10 - Recording has wrapped on my new songs, "Sweet Thing" and "Home," and we're now entering the "mastering" phase. I'm anticipating a release in January and I simply can't wait to share these songs with everyone! Stay tuned for more details in the New Year. Until then, thank you for your support this year! Wishing you & yours a beautiful holiday season.... 8.25.10 - Thank you for voting me "Best Singer/Songwriter" in the New Haven Advocate's 2010 Grand Band Slam! This is a huge honor for me and I want to thank everyone who took the time to vote. I really appreciate the love & support!
If you want to check out/download the remixes, go to Masterbeat.com, and search under Artist: Gerald Goode (the song is listed as "Gerald Goode feat. Suzanne Vick"). Thanks to everyone for your love & support! 3.6.10 - I'm very happy to say that this has been an incredible week for me and "The Brightness of Orchids." I have some exciting news to share with you - my song "Tattered" was just picked up by Full Throttle Records! Owned and operated by DJ/producer Ronnie Maze, Full Throttle will be releasing some hard core dance remixes of the single under the label, which will be available for download at number of major commercial dance music retail sites, including Masterbeat, Beatport, and of course, iTunes... Needless to say, I'm very excited about this and will keep everyone posted on when the remixes are available, along with any other developments that stem from this venture! In other news, my album just received four-star review in the March edition of SoundWaves Magazine! The arts- & music-based publication is based in the Mystic/Niantic (CT) area, and focuses on both national and local artists. (Note that my write-up immediately follows one about rapper, Jay-Z...). You can read the review online at www.swaves.com (flip to page 20). I'd like to sincerely thank reviewer Don Sikorski for the time he spent listening to the CD and writing the review. AND for the fact that he compared my voice to Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox and Carole King! Good stuff!! 1.31.10 - First off, a BIG thank you to everyone who braved the cold last month to come to my CD release party, and to Gerald Goode, Seth Adam, John Goode, my brother Brian and my wonderful band - Roger Post, Eric DiBerardino, Scott Digioia, Gary Dohrmann and Ed Vick - for playing that night. 10.4.09 - IT'S FINALLY HERE! I just released my debut album, "The Brightness of Orchids" on 9/29/09! Tracks are now available on Digstation and CD Baby! iTunes coming soon! Thanks to all for your wonderful support and enthusiasm for this project. Hope you enjoy the music! 8.8.09 - Check out Freight Train (performed by my brother and me on WTNH)! 8.6.09 - My brother, Brian, and I will be performing "Freight Train" TOMORROW on WTNH News Channel 8's "CT Style!" Tune in at 12:30 to see us! 6.18.09 - Tracking for the album has been done since last month, and we'll be wrapping up mixing over the next couple of weeks! We're still anticipating a fall release! The songs are really sounding great. I'll be sure to keep y'all posted... I had the opportunity to sing with the Monroe Congregational Church choir at their "Strawberry Festival" service last Sunday. Dad snuck in with this video camera to capture the spirit! Check it out here:
4.6.09 - Getting close to completing the tracking for the album! (I feel like I've been saying that for a while now...). I'm spending a lot of time at the studio this month in hopes of finishing all the tracks we need. Then, it's on to mixing all of this stuff together! I I still remain optimistic for a late summer/early fall release date... In other news, I had the privilege of being Vocal Director for Wooster Middle School's production of "The Music Man," which ran from March 27-29 at the school. I am always amazed at how much work goes into a show like that, both from the cast and the crew! So many people helped out to make the show a success, and man, was it ever! The kids pulled off a difficult play with much poise, grace and talent, and made all of us backstage very proud of them. Good times, all around. 2.19.09 - WOW! Where, oh where did the time go? No, SERIOUSLY!... How on earth can it be February already? I feel very negligent in my updating duties... sorry about that! It seems the holidays and beginning of this year got away from me. In any case, the CD is progressing nicely. I've been tracking vocals for the past few months and we're almost ready to start the daunting task of mixing all these MANY tracks down. I am so thrilled at how the songs are coming together, and I truly cannot wait to release this album. I'd like to say it'll be done this summer, but reality says probably early fall. What an amazing experience this has been for me... I've gotten to work with so many talented, creative people, all of whom have added so much to this project. And, I'm already planning out my NEXT one! 10.2.08 - HAPPY FALL Y'ALL! I have to admit, I'm one of those weirdos who loves leaving summer behind in favor of these cooler, more colorful fall days. We have now officially entered my favorite season of the year, and my energy level reflects that. We're making great progress on the CD. All drum and bass tracks are finished, and Ed is tracking his guitar parts. Then, we'll start with vocals... This has been such an amazing experience so far - and the songs are really starting to take shape! I'll keep you posted... 8.27.08 - Electric Mayhem won "Best Funk Band" in the Fairfield Weekly's Grand Band Slam for the second year in a row! We could not have done it without your support, so thanks to everyone who voted for us! Mayhem will be playing the Grand Band Slam concert, along with all of this year's 6.5.08 – For the past 6 months, I've been acting as Vocal Director for this year's musical theater production at Stratford Academy in Stratford. I was brought on board in January to help the kids with major roles in "The Wiz" gain more confidence and understanding of their vocal parts. May 30 and 31 marked opening weekend, and brought in packed houses both nights! This has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. I'm really proud of all my "majors" and I've gotten to work with some wonderful people behind the scenes. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to make this production a reality. "The Wiz" is also being performed at Stratford Academy's Johnson House this coming weekend, so if you're looking to be entertained, come on down!... 12.9.07 – An article about Songs for the Cell appeared in the Connecticut section of The New York Times last week. Many thanks to reporter Elizabeth Maker for seeing the importance of this project and getting the word out about it. To see the article online go to: http://www.songsforthecell.net/timesarticle.html. 9.16.07 – Songs for the Cell CDs NOW AVAILABLE!! Songs for the Cell, a CD project I produced with my cousin, Mitch Longley, aims to raise funds for and awareness about the stem cell issue. Mitch has returned to his singing roots on this album, covering songs by some of his favorite artists such as Paul Simon, Bill Withers and Neil Diamond. Mitch, who has used a wheelchair since his spinal chord injury in 1983, chose songs with lyrics that best express his experience of injury, recovery, healing and hope for the future. This CD also marks my first role as primary producer on a project. Songs for the Cell is available for $15. Proceeds from the sale of this disc will benefit stem cell research facilities and subsequent clinical application programs. For more information about the project, visit www.SongsfortheCell.net.
